TERMS OF SERVICE AGREEMENT

By enrolling at Rise Academy of Music, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service, policies, and procedures.

1. General Lesson Procedures

  • Students are expected to attend lessons at their scheduled time, as agreed upon at the commencement of the term.

  • Changes to lesson times are subject to tutor availability and academy discretion, ensuring fairness and consistency.

  • Parents/guardians onsite during lessons should refrain from communicating with students or teachers unless initiated by the teacher (e.g., sharing homework or practice expectations).

2. Casual Lessons

  • Must be booked at least 7 days in advance and are subject to availability.

  • Important:

  • Non-refundable

  • Do not include make-up lesson credits

  • No refunds for change of mind

3. Punctuality

  • Arrive 5–10 minutes early for lessons, fully prepared.

  • Students arriving more than 10 minutes late without notice will forfeit the lesson.

  • Late arrivals do not extend lesson time.

  • Please wait quietly under the awning or in your vehicle until your scheduled lesson begins.

4. Video & Sound Recording

  • Online or public recording requires teacher approval.

  • Personal recordings for practice may be allowed with consent.

  • Teachers may decline recording at their discretion.

5. MyMusicStaff Portal

  • A one-off $30 + GST fee is required to create a student profile. Features include:

  • Lesson schedules

  • Access to learning resources and recordings

  • Reminders, updates, and notifications

  • Logging practice and leaving tutor notes

  • Tailored vocal workouts and materials

​

6. Cancellations

  • 24 hours’ notice required via email or text to qualify for a make-up lesson.

  • Students under 18 cannot cancel their own lessons.

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice incurs full fees.

  • Four or more cancellations per term, or withdrawal, may result in a 30% penalty of total term fees.

  • Families are responsible for checking MyMusicStaff for updates and notifications.

7. Make-Up Lesson Policy (Important)


Make-Up Lesson Credits

  • 10-week term: 2 credits per term

  • 5-lesson term: 1 credit per term

  • Casual lessons: no credits provided

​

Term Validity

  • Credits must be used within the same term.

  • If no suitable day/time is available, the credit is forfeited.

​

Booking & Forfeiture

  • Once booked, make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled a second time.

  • Failure to attend results in automatic forfeiture.

  • No extensions, rollovers, or exceptions.

​

Private Lessons

  • 10-week term: 2 credits

  • 5-lesson term: 1 credit

  • All credits follow the Make-Up Lesson Policy.

​

Semi-Private Lessons (Two Students)

One shared make-up lesson per term.

If one student is absent:

  1. Both may agree to use the shared credit, or

  2. Absent student forfeits their lesson.

Students must notify the tutor within 24 hours.

​

Group Lessons

  • Absences result in forfeited lessons.

  • If 50%+ of the group is absent, the teacher may reschedule (subject to availability).

​

8. Teacher Cancellations

  • Make-up lessons will be arranged where possible.

  • Substitute tutors may be provided.

  • If rescheduling is not possible, the lesson fee will be credited to the next term.

​

9. Illness

  • Students who are unwell should not attend lessons.

  • Tutors may ask students to leave if there is a risk to others.

  • Make-up lessons may be offered at the tutor’s discretion, subject to 24-hour notice.​

​

10. Online Lessons

  • Conducted via Zoom or Google Meet.

  • Students are responsible for a suitable internet setup.

  • Teachers wait up to 10 minutes before forfeiting the lesson.

  • Recorded sessions are for private educational use only.

Online Etiquette

  • Dress appropriately

  • Ensure clear camera view

  • Participate in a quiet, distraction-free space

  • Display respectful behaviour

  • Misuse may result in lesson forfeiture

​

11. Payments

  • Term fees must be paid two weeks prior to commencement.

  • 5% discount applies to 10-week terms paid in full.

  • Overdue invoices after 3 days may result in forfeiture of the lesson slot.

12. Music, Materials & Performances

  • External performances, rehearsals, or travel may incur additional fees.

​

13. Bullying, Harassment & Conduct

  • Rise Academy adheres to NSW Child Safety Standards.

  • Parents must inform the academy if a child is travelling independently or being picked up by someone not listed as a guardian.

14. Privacy & Confidentiality

  • Studio address must remain confidential; only suburb or PO Box [PO Box 7, Forestville NSW 2087] may be shared publicly.

  • All lessons, materials, recordings, and information are for private student use only.

  • Public sharing of materials without permission is prohibited.
