The Importance of Vocal Warmups

A vocal warm-up is a series of exercises meant to prepare the voice for singing, acting or other vocal uses. Vocal warm-ups prepare you for the intense workout that is singing. Like any muscle before a workout, it is important to get the blood circulating around the area for best performance and to prevent injury. A full body warm-up can assist in alleviating tension and preparing the body for any vocal training. Vocal Warm-ups are meant to accomplish the following:

1. A physical whole body warm-up and assisting in the release of tension

2. Preparing and controlling the breath

3. Exploring registers and training for a smooth transition

4.Increasing vocal agility and improving stamina.
